If it ain't one thing, it's another

I have an LR Baggs  Element in my Gibson LG1 and an LR Baggs I-beam in my Martin D-21, both after-market.  These both have volume controls in the sound hole and if I have to use a pickup (I much prefer the sound of a mic) they are pretty good.  My Goya has a Fishman sound hole pickup which really requires phantom power.
Regarding the adjustable saddle: This was NOT one of Gibson's better ideas.  My second guitar was a 1958 J50 with an adj. bridge.  I had it modified to a fixed bridge around 1970 and I feel that the sound was vastly improved.  When the luthier (Edward Dick) showed me the hardware he'd removed from the bridge, I could see why it was a bad idea.  The saddle was supported at each end by the adjusting screws. 
The new bone saddle sits flat against the rosewood slot.  My brother Bob now owns this guitar (Lucky guy).

TonyKgull, there are several videos, demoing the Baggs- non-professional demos. A couple of the pros described what they were using- some of the comments, on Sweetwater had similar comments on how the sound was good, no matter what system (PA or amp) they went through.

The Baggs system is a mounted, under the bridge, (attached by tape to the bridge plate, microphone) vs A/E's which use under the saddle pick-up "piezo" style, which is what mine have. I don't like what I hear through my Fishman mini loud box, which is, according to all I've read and heard, a pretty good amp.
The Baggs, Lyric, has an adjustment that changes the sound from "dark" to "bright" and a volume control. My Epiphone Pro Dove has a Fishman sound hole adjustment and I can't tell the difference no matter how I adjust it.
