I have had a small mystery on my hands for a good long time now but only now decided to try and clear up and perhaps add to the Seagull story and I hope the good people here can help.
I´ve had my Seagull since my parents bought it for me in 1982 from Mario´s Music in Ajax, Ontario (now long gone I believe). I looked at Yamaha´s, a few others I don´t remember and a Fender acoustic that when my Dad saw the price tag he talked quietly to the salesman. I do remember that the salesman took down this very lovely guitar and I was struck by the beautiful wood grain, the sleek headstock and the "new guitar" aroma. He said that it was from a new guitar maker from Quebec and they had a couple new ones in stock. He thought it was an excellent guitar to begin with. He never told me what it was called. I´m not even sure he knew. After a few hesitant plucks, I said that this was the one for me and the deal was done. It cost my parents all of CDN 200 dollars but it came with a case and the works.
After all these years, I decided to do a bit of research and have come up with a bit of a mystery. My guitar has no logo on it other than the serial number on the tag in the body. It´s obviously a Seagull from the shape of it but it has a full Cedar top and what looks to me like a full Maple body (not a laminated Wild Cherry, but I´m no expert.) as well as Maple neck. I´ve not seen reference to this combo before (I had a look through the spreadsheet provided in the pinned post). The Model make listed on the interior is just "Seagull" and the serial number is 884.
I´ve provided some pictures here so perhaps somebody knows something of this. I´ve been the only owner of this guitar, kept it good condition and it has done me exceedingly well. Any help would be greatly appreciated ...
