I was curious about why acoustic with cutout.

When I go to the small local guitar shop, it doesn't have a massive range of makes, just a selection of Acoustic and electric guitars, with a regular turnover, so a varied change of guitars.
I don't buy guitars of the Internet, and the drive to the large guitar supermarkets is not something I enjoy doing to put it mildly.
So when I go to the local guitar shop, and that's quite often, more often than not it's just for a chat and general look around, if I see a guitar that catches my eye, I'll have a little play, if it ticks all the boxes I'll, see if a trade in deal can be done.
So to answer your question, I don't have a preference, I have guitars with and without cut outs, I don't go pass the 12 fret very often, don't think it make any difference to the sound.

I'm one of those people who don't care for the looks of a cutaway on an acoustic guitar, and I don't spend a lot of time North of the 14th fret. When I first started seeing cutaways on acoustic guitars, I always assumed that I was gonna see some fancy up-the-neck playing when someone played one. Now, I see people on stage who have a cutaway and they play cowboy chords all night. It still seems strange.

I'll admit to wishing I had one when I'm playing slide, but I don't play enough slide to get a new guitar for that.  The guitar in my profile picture is a resophonic guitar with a cutaway that I loved playing slide on, but it belongs to my friend Mark, who built it,
I'll also admit that I do like the looks of a Maccaferri acoustic with a cutaway. They just look wrong without one.

The Aiersi (aka the Amazon Special) I bought a couple of years ago for around $100 is a cutaway. The review that made me aware of it said that it was a similar build to a Takamine NEX. I've never been fond of the look of a cutaway and still feel that way, but it only came in cutaway, the review made me curious, and I had $100 I could freely spend on it, so it's been mine ever since. I don't regret buying it because it's a pretty nice player. Not perfect, but better than you would think for $100. I did a couple of things like bone nut and saddle, and ebony bridge pins with mother-of-pearl inlays that match the rosette.

My old friend who was probably the first of my friends to learn to play a guitar had a cutaway acoustic as his first guitar, and that seemed a little unusual at the time. I knew a few people who had Martins, more who had something in the Yamaha FG range, and then a couple of Ovation owners. I later found out that most of the Ovation owners lived on campus and discovered that those guitars traveled better than something more conventional. None of those were cutaways that I remember.

Derick, Bullet Point, no.1- is subjective- otherwise everyone would prefer it.... I don't care for it, even though I have one... what makes mine likeable, to me, is the wood binding, not the body shape.
