To day went to one of the largest guitar shops in England, the shop was in Birmingham, it's only about 35 miles away, but it must be one of the worst 35 miles for traffic and roadworks, the motorways are more like massive car parks, that's enough of the moaning.
The main reason for the visit was to buy an Eastman guitar, well that failed very quickly, due to not having any Eastman Guitars in stock.
So I was still considering another make of guitar to buy, after a good look around. A few Sigma guitars, Fender acoustic guitars, Ibanez guitars, a wall full of Alvarez guitars, loads of Martin and Taylor Guitars.
Started with Alvarez guitars , tried most of them, some very good looking guitars, and generally at a good price, but not impressed with the quality of the sound/tone, when fingerpicked, but seemed to come to life when strummed.
Next to the Martin guitars, some absolutely beautiful guitars, with amazing sound/tone would definitely like one, except for one thing, the price,
Next to the Taylor Guitar section, again some absolutely beautiful guitars, with amazing sound/tone, but same problem as the Martin guitars , the price.
If I only had £2,000 to £4,000 to spare on a new guitar, but that's more than I'm prepared to pay, it didn't help as the guitar shop were not really interested in a trade.
The guitar sales person, seemed to realised that I wasn't going to spend megabucks, and said I might be interested in a used Martin that had recently come in as a trade, and he would reduce the price by £200 compared to the new price, he handed me the guitar, I took one look and said to him, is this a joke, the action was at least 1/4".
So no new guitar but had the fun of playing some fantastic guitars.
