A couple years ago I bought an Epson et-2760 Echo Tank colour inkjet. Tony had one and
recommended it.
I was impressed. I was using it to print covid admission forms, colour-coded spread sheets, T-shirt transfers and some pictures. Ink was consumed very slowly, I almost believed it WOULD last 2 years as promised
l
Then one day, yellow disappeared.
then cyan...
so i followed the instructions for clearing the nozzles ... and got n0where.
SO i bought a inkjet cleaning kit. and used it to clear the pipes for the two colours. It worked!
for a day
then a 3rd colour dies. I then clean all the tubes.
Only two colours come back. Then i research the problem deeper, discover "deep cleaning' a technique that uses most of your ink to recharge the system. IT is also fills your waste ink reservoir, which you have to replace or you can not print! I ordered one.
But the stories i was seeing made me reluctant to try the procedure. I was considering scraping the printer. But i already had bought reservoir and more ink bottles. and well I'm Scottish.
Anyways for about at year the printer sat. Until it was time for my wife to check my spreadsheet for our Curatorship. The spread sheet is COLOUR CODED. It would be very difficult to audit without colour.
I'm stuck at home because I have a no drive order from doc for 1 month. (I had another TSI)
SO i decided to try one more time. I laid out a garbage bag in the workshop and set the printer on top. In case of spills And I started the deep clean and left.
Apparently there are a couple levels of deep cleans. The one I used took 15 mins or so, not HOURS as I had been led to expect by videos.
Instructions said to let printer sit for 12hrs after cleaning/charging (did not say OFF or ON) BAH, no time.
so i did nozzle check...passed, Then i went to print the spreadsheet to give wife her audit copy.
BUT This computer did not have Epson software anymore, the HDD had crash a while back, new SSD now, so new install. And the other computer seemed to have LOST the Epson driver.
SO i had to reinstall on both win7 and win 10.
Go to EPSON site.....no support for Windows 10 anymore! but yes for Windows 7. Installed Win7 driver on both computers
Then i printed spreadsheet for wife.
-----------------------------------------
it's been 2 days. I did a nozzle check just now. OK
i note the printer has only done 1142 pages since 2020/08/14
What will fail next?
