Thought I'd start this thread so others might have a place to share any cool experiences relating to music and their church praise team.
I wanted to do this also because I wanted to share what happened today. It was an extraordinarily cool day.
First off, it was my first time playing with my team in front of our church's new music ministry pastor. I know "you never get a second chance to make a first impression" and was really hoping we'd do really well. Well....it went better than that! We really knocked it out of the park and even got a huge applause for the closing song ( which was I'm Going Free (Jailbreak) ) which almost never happens. Not really a churchy thing to do. So there was that.
Then, to top that off, a couple of guys that I invited to church ( fellow bus drivers from previous job ) a long time ago, but never showed up, decided to come check out our church today. They did not know I was playing, it just worked out that way. Anyways, they loved the band so much they offered us a gig at another church. But get this, not just to go and play there as a guest or whatever, but an actual paid gig! lol. They are now the 3rd people to want to recruit our praise team for a paid gig cuz of seeing us at church. And believe me, we are nothing special. Amateur equipment and amateurs the bunch of us.
I jokingly said to the guys, "Hey, you know what? I think we might need to get us a manager!" LOL!
The ironic part is ( if I'm using that word correctly ), that if I get this new job I'm going for, I may not even be able to do my regular praise team stuff for quite some time, never mind any extra gigs. Yeeesh!
But, all that to say that it was a great day, filled with fun and joy and very encouraging feedback and it's just great to have such a fantastic time and be appreciated doing it. Who knows what the future holds, but I thank God for great days like today. I don't mean to say that it's all about me or my team or anything, just again, it's nice when you have days like today that really charge you up, encourage you and give you the confidence to carry on.
