I almost cut my thumb off on a table saw!! I was holding a 2x4 in the miter gage on a 45 degree angle. It took a lot of force to hold it from moving. I was moving it in very slowly. Then I felt a tickle on the tip of my thumb!! The blade cut halfway through the skin. I went right out and bought the clamp for the miter gage. Never had that problem again.
Another table saw faux pas! TWICE I was quickly (first warning) free handing a piece of 1/4 hardboard through the table saw. I started to drift off of the line so I made a correction. The blade instantly bound in the cut and sent the wood spiraling backwards at me. Fortunately I'm tall enough that the wood hit me in the hip bone. Didn't hurt and didn't leave much of a mark. If I was shorter it could have ripped my gut open! YES, I did it again at another time.
No alcohol was involved in either accident.
Coupling power tools with peripheral neuropathy is noo good. You don't feel pressure well.
I have had the tips of my work gloves and fingers sanded off by belt sander, been almost skewered by table saw kickback and other sundry "accidents". Ive shot my hand with my air compressors nail gun. ( i used that again yesterday on the Capo shelf!!)
I have had my left elbow twisted in wrong direction by a power driver slipping into lock position.
THAT accident left me unable to pick up a guitar with left hand for few months!
On top of that even with a dust collection system, and 3M filter rebreather the dust has affected my lungs, making me cough for a week after every little project.
I have had a 4x8 gpyroc panel fall on me, fallen down the stairs ( permanent hip joint damage that has become Bursitis)
list goes on and on..
