Well, talk about luck, I really should go out and buy a lottery ticket.
Yesterday, as I was walking out of the grocery store, I noticed the bulletin board had a guitar for sale. It was a Seagull 12 string. I immediately called the number and the lady said the guitar was still available. So, I went straight over to her house. Upon seeing the S12, I could see that it was brand new and still in the box. The story was that the guitar was a Christmas present for her son who has seemingly departed for whatever reason. Now she wanted to sell it. (I had been looking around a bit for a 12 string over the past year. Not serious GAS but just grazing). Knowing the new value was $600, I was prepared to go up to $400. I checked my wallet and had $310. I offered her that, thinking, to myself, I could get more at the bank and come back later.
She said “Good enough, you can take it away”. I picked up the guitar and left feeling guilty. Now that I am home and had the opportunity to play a little, the guilt is disappearing. She was happy to dispose of the S12 and I was happy to take it. Hard to believe. Just played Give a little bit by SuperTramp. This guitar is amazing. Now I have to go out and pickup a dual guitar stand.
I have decided to name her Grace, a sister for Ava.
Robert, I will need advice for a new capo. I have a Kyser which is fine for the Amber Trail but on Grace the high octave A between low E and A is muted. I’m guessing due to the thickness of the E and A string, the capo can’t get enough pressure on the string. What do you recommend?
Tony, congratulations on your new girlfriend.
