Thought I'd start a new thread after receiving the guitar yesterday. Played it for a couple of hours last night in standard, open D and DADGAD tunings and I'm really liking this guitar. It has a brightness, which I love, much like my Taylors with unique tone all it's own on the lower strings. It doesn't have the bass weight that the rosewood and granadillo Taylors have but that serves a couple of songs I play very well. The first two strings have an almost 12 string character to them which really serves a song I play by Preston Reed which he plays on a 12 string. The visual quality of the wood on this guitar is really stunning with the flame maple on the back having a very unique, swirly figuring. Just two minor complaints, one with the tuners. After getting used to the buttery smooth tuners on the two Taylors these feel kind of subpar. Has anyone upgraded the tuners on a Seagull? Will Gotohs fit on that tapered headstock? As far as the case goes I'm glad it was free. Styrofoam? Really? I've already ordered a Gator to replace it. Considering what I paid for this guitar and how close it comes in quality of sound, fit and finish to my two Taylors I think I got a killer deal on a killer guitar. Oh and the small blemish on the binding on the back which caused the dealer to list this as B stock came right off with my fingernail. Couldn't be happier.
