Whelp. I was right. I couldn't resist the "I got an offa youz can't refuse" deal.
Brought home the Cort L300VF and she's a beauty!
Pics to come later, ran out of time (playing the guitar too long, ha ha!).
First impressions? Well, the main reason I wanted this guitar was cuz I've always wanted a solid Adirondack spruce top guitar with X-scalloped bracing, but could never afford what was out there. I am not disappointed in any way by this one.
The Adi top really gives this thing a unique voice. I can only describe it thusly:
It has the general flavor of a spruce top in tones, but the warmth of a cedar top with the low end growl of a mahogany top. That low end growl is nice and clean too! Even when strummed pretty aggressively, and we all know how I like to strum aggressively. Obviously the solid hog back contributes to this part.
The low end on this little OM (CH for Godin people) is amazing. I'd say it's pretty much the same as my Taylor GAs low end, maybe just a slight, wee-bit, tad less, but very, very close. That's bloody impressive!
The resonance is also quite impressive. It's amazing what scalloped X-bracing does for a guitar. That, with the Adi top and hog b&s, makes for a very Martin like guitar. They say it's not "supposed" to be a Martin replica, but it comes as close to one as you can get without trying to actually be a replica. LOL.
The 1.75" neck with low C profile feels exactly like a Taylor, more or less, just like the Avalrez.
The vintage Martin look with the "Tiger Claw" pick guard has really grown on me to the point of being very enamored with her beauty altogether.
So, all in all, I think I'm done with acoustics for now. I've got the 3 main types of acoustics I've always wanted and looked for in a guitar. Now to work on getting that Yamaha bass.
Again, pics to come, hopefully tomorrow and video review down the road.
