So a week ago I found an online dealer who was offering very good discounted price for a Maritime SWS folk, with the new headstock logo. I decided to buy it because Godin seems to be phasing out folks and as I've mentioned here before, the short scale makes a huge difference in my playing enjoyment and comfort.
I also preferred one of the new Seagull gig bags in navy and grey, kind of looks like a bag with saddle bag front pocket with buckles.
They are waiting for the bag from Godin in order to ship altogether, a couple of weeks delay.
So...As I have waited a week patiently, I have had some time to think and wonder if I'd be better off saving myself several $$ and just enjoy my coastline Folk. I owned a maritime SWS folk several years ago but sold it perfectly good condition because I had too many guitars (and my original Cedar Folk) and so it never got played much.
But now after so many years of buying and selling and trying to figure out what I like and what facilitates and inspires playing, I have come to think it is these Seagull Folks for me, maybe even more so than my Martins. Now that the folk bodies are going bye bye, I feel compelled to get the solid wood again like I had before because eventually they will be gone.
If I cancel my order, I could save several hundred $$ and pay down bills instead. Oh, but the Folk model makes me so happy. I suppose I could always get another nylon La Patrie later on, as I don't see these being phased out.
