Cleaning Product - UK Specific Question

Hi arst06d, welcome to the cabin. This isn't quite the answer you're looking for and maybe someone else will have an actual product to recommend, but from everything I've read it seems that a slightly dampened cotton cloth is the preferred cleaning method. Wipe then dry... done. In a round about sort of way that's what it sounds like Seagull is recommending. Water based with no additives. As for the neck that seems slightly more controversial although many sources recommend rubbing the neck with lemon oil when you change the strings. I know what you're going through though, I got a new guitar not long ago, you want to keep it looking absolutely pristine. Give it some years and some hard playing and it will look like Willie Nelson's guitar and that'll be cool too. Enjoy that new guitar!

Ya,that's the controversy. The maker of my guitar (cole clark) says lemon oil, Taylor says boiled linseed. I'm sure that you have researched this online and found, as I did, that both have their fans and detractors. I just had another look and found this article which I thought was interesting. Apparently lemon oil fret cleaner has little or even no lemon oil in it. Makes me feel a little less like I'm taking a chance. www.guitaranswerguy.com/12-lemon-oil-debate/

RobertW, based on my woodworking teacher days it sounds like you weren't using boiled. The non boiled is notorious for taking forever to dry, if it ever dries at all. I'm not actually sure why it's available, I assume it has a use but I have no idea what. And if someone hadn't spent too much time researching wood finishing methods (like me) how would they know? I've actually stopped people in check out lines from buying it. I have some at home right now labelled 'double boiled', not sure if that's a marketing thing or if they've added even more dryers. From what I remember of using it I think it would be fine for a neck, but I'm going to stick with the dunlop lemon.
