Is there a better neck in the business?

I used to think the same thing about Seagull necks.  In fact, at one point, I was pretty convinced I could not play a normal guitar neck ever again.

But when I brought my Taylor home which has the 1 11/16" neck (Ack! Blasphemy for a Seagull lover!) I just decided to stick with that guitar until I got fully used to it.  Guess what?  Once I did get fully used to it, the issue seemed to reverse itself.  Now the Seagull neck seemed a bit large and uncomfortable.

All that to say, maybe, it's just a question of what you allow yourself and your muscle memory to get used to.  It seems it was that way for me at least.

Also, I have noticed, again, just for me, that I can handle the neck on a dread, for some reason, much more easily than the neck on a folk or OM.  I think it's just because the different body size creates a different "reach" effect than when I play a dread or GA.

Could any of these things possibly be at play here with you?  You might try experimenting with only playing one guitar for awhile until you find it really comfortable and see if you get the same results I did.    If nothing else, it's kind of fun to experiment. 

Not quite what I was getting at.  There's a difference between "having access" to a bunch of different guitars and sticking with one (or one type) for awhile specifically.

I too have access to a bunch of guitars and if I always played all the guitars I had access too, then of course one type would feel the most comfortable by default.  I think the same would be with anyone.  But when you play only one type specifically for a good while, your brain and muscles start to adapt to that specific type.  That's more what I was getting at.

But hey, there's nothing wrong with having a favorite now and sticking with that.  Just saying, we are made to be highly adaptable if given the circumstances and chance.

Well never really analyzed guitar necks, just pick the guitar up and play them.
Maybe subconsciously​ that's what makes me think, "i like this guitar or not".

I think it's even more complex than that. An individual player's reaction to the playability of a neck stems from several issues: the width of the fretboard (a function of both nut and saddle), the string spacing (again, both nut and saddle), the shape of the neck, the finish used on the neck, how well the frets have been seated and polished, the wood used both on the neck and the fretboard, and so on.  It isn't just one specification, it's many.

My two Taylors have the same necks, dimensionally. While the 418 has great playability, the 514 has playability at least twice as good. The two different guitar bodies definitely have an effect on things. When you put your hand on the necks, they feel the same. After playing them for a while, you could almost swear they were different. My Seagulls necks feel slimmer in the hand, even though the nut is almost 1/16" wider. Might be an effect caused by the fretboard binding - the neck might be dimensionally bigger despite the different nut width.
I am concluding there are several factors at play in addition to nut width.

cibby,  I still remember A/B'ing the Artist Cameo with the Performer equivalent.  I'm not a big fan of maple back and sides.  To tinny and trebly for me.  I wanted to see how much I could be made to dislike maple I guess, LOL, was just curious.  But when I picked up and played the Artist Cameo ..... Oh..... my ......gosh.  I was sincerely stunned.  It made the Performer sound like it was made out of tin and cardboard.

I don't know what different kind of magic they put into the Artists, but they are Godin's shining achievement in acoustics.  You have a great guitar there and I hope you are able to enjoy it for many, many years to come.

I have no idea.  Would be an interesting question to have answered though if anyone can find out.
